The society has been in existence since 2005 and was established to provide a forum for members to discuss in a friendly atmosphere their family tree searches and to listen to invited experts.
The society welcomes everyone who is interested in family history and who wants to further their knowledge of this interesting and passionate subject.
Strabane is situated at the point where the River Foyle starts and is an important route leading to and from Donegal.
The town can date its history back many thousands of years. In the old graveyard at St Patrick’s Street there stands a stone of the period 2500 BC
However Strabane is more about people and particularly families.
There is a great desire among us to find out where we came from, our roots, and the journey our ancestors have taken to arrive where our generation is at present.
